The Traditional Dance Forum of Scotland, Fèisean nan Gàidheal and The University of Edinburgh’s Moray House School of Education present a day of professional development for Scottish step dance teachers. Led by First Footing Dance artist-in-residence Nic Gareiss with seminars and facilitation by Wendy Timmons, programme director of the MSc in Dance Science and Education at The University of Edinburgh, this one day summit will include participatory step dance masterclasses, step dance teaching feedback sessions, speakers, informative seminars, and facilitated discussions with the aim of addressing the specific needs of Scottish step dance teachers.
In addition to programming designed to nourish, enrich, and continue the training needs of this unique group of traditional arts educators, step dance teachers from across Scotland will also have the rare opportunity to connect with their colleagues and cast a new vision for sustainability, preservation, creativity, and community-building for traditional dance in Scotland.
This workshop is free to Scottish step dance teachers, but there are limited places so advance booking is essential.
First Footing is supported by Creative Scotland.
Special thanks to Horsecross Arts for providing The Space at a discounted rate.
